VPN & remote access in Adelaide
Your team works from the office, from home, from client sites, sometimes all three in the same week. We set up secure VPN and remote access for Adelaide businesses so your people can reach files, systems and applications from anywhere without putting your data at risk. The short answer
A business VPN gives remote staff an encrypted link back to the office network so they can reach files and systems safely. WaTo Consulting sets up site-to-site and remote worker VPNs for Adelaide businesses, adds multi-factor authentication and split tunnelling, installs the client on each device, and keeps certificates and firmware up to date.
What is VPN and remote access?
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) creates an encrypted tunnel between a remote device and your office network, so data travelling over the internet is private and protected. Remote access is the broader setup that lets your staff securely connect to company files, email, line-of-business apps and desktops from outside the office. Done right, it feels like sitting at your desk. Done wrong, it's a security hole you can't see.
What we set up
Site-to-site VPN
Securely link two or more office locations so they share files and systems as if they're on the same network.
Remote worker VPN
Individual connections for staff working from home or on the road, with encryption and access controls built in.
Multi-factor authentication
A second step at login (an app prompt or a code) so a stolen password alone isn't enough to get in.
Remote desktop access
Let staff connect to their office PC or a terminal server from home, with the same apps and files they use at their desk.
Split tunnelling & policies
Control what goes through the VPN and what doesn't, so business traffic is secure without slowing down everything else.
Ongoing monitoring
We keep an eye on connection health, certificate expiry and unusual login attempts so nothing slips through quietly.
Who it's for
- Adelaide businesses with staff who work from home or travel and need secure access to office systems.
- Companies with multiple sites that need their networks linked securely without expensive dedicated lines.
- Businesses handling sensitive data (client records, financial information, health data) that can't afford a leak.
- Organisations moving to hybrid work and needing proper remote infrastructure instead of workarounds.
How it works
- We assess your needs. Who needs remote access, from where, to what systems, and what security requirements apply to your industry.
- We design the solution. The right VPN platform matched to your firewall, network and number of users, without over-engineering it or cutting corners.
- We configure and secure. VPN tunnels, user accounts, multi-factor authentication and access policies set up and tested end to end.
- We roll out to your team. Client software installed on each device, users walked through how to connect, and a guide provided for reference.
- We monitor and maintain. Certificates renewed, firmware updated and connection logs reviewed, so the VPN stays secure and keeps working.
Why WaTo for VPN & remote access
- We configure VPNs that are actually secure, rather than turned on with default settings and forgotten.
- One team manages your VPN, firewall, network and IT, so everything works together because the same people built it.
- Adelaide owned since 2001. We were setting up remote access for local businesses long before hybrid work was a buzzword.
- We support your users directly when they can't connect, as well as the server side. You get real help instead of a ticket number.
- Plain-English explanations so you understand what's protected and what the risks are.
VPN & remote access questions
Do we need a VPN if we already use cloud apps like Microsoft 365?
Cloud apps handle their own encryption, but if your team also accesses files on a local server, internal databases or line-of-business software, a VPN is still the safest way to connect. We'll assess what you actually need.
Will a VPN slow down my team's internet?
A properly configured VPN adds minimal overhead. We use split tunnelling where appropriate so only business traffic goes through the VPN, and streaming and general browsing aren't affected.
Can I use the VPN on my phone or tablet?
Yes. Most modern VPN solutions support Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. We configure each device your team uses so the experience is consistent.
How secure is a business VPN compared to a consumer one?
Very different. A business VPN connects directly to your own network with your own encryption and access controls. Consumer VPNs route traffic through a third party's servers, which is not what you want for company data.
